Long time ago, in a small, small, room was a developer making stuff that nobody care about. He had hopes to make interesting things (even AAA title :P ), but he was terrible lost. As the years go on, he never gave up, after each failure he stand up again and keep going on. It was a painful process, but he learned more and more stuff as the times went on. His projects began to be a little better than pure crap.
It took a long time, but he began to meet really interesting people, people who was possible to trust with, because that developer wasn't a genius and he needed help in other game related areas. Genius are one of a million, and that developer soon realized he wasn't one of them, and that the friends were his best treasure.

Star Trash was an idea I had on February 2008, it born like an ambitious defense game based on protecting a planet against waves of bad aliens. The idea fed from various sources as other defense games like Flash Element TD or Desktop Tower Defense and from TV shows like Star Trek, Red Dwarf, South Park or Farscape. You can guess that mixing all these things can result an extraordinary crazy thing.
The universe of characters created were amazing rich and there is a plenty of space to make these characters run their own adventures. That's the main idea of the community "Star Trash Universe", to allow the interested developers to get the chance to develop their unique vision of this universe.
About the key points of the community:



COMMUNITY KEY FEATURES


  • CREATIVE FREEDOM: The idea is to make bigger this universe through the different vision of the different developers. There is no restriction about the style or the game design.
  • REVENUE: The 100% of the revenue generated by the game is for the developer, for you. Why? Because this community is basically about to have the chance to know great developers. Also the success of an specific title will help to attract more players to the community and its other games so everybody will be receive benefit.
  • RESOURCES: You will be able to use all the existing graphics and sounds to easy the development process. Of course, you will need to make your own graphics to reach your game vision.
  • FORMATION: As a member of the community you will have access to multiple source code that will help you in your process to develop your game idea. Code about basic game flow, game structure, scrolling backgrounds, physics, pathfinding, level editors,....




REQUIREMENTS



Because nothing is for free in this life, even if all the mass media try to convince us about the opposite. There are some requirements to be a member:

  • PRO-ACTIVE CHARACTER: Do you work hard for what you want? Or you just wait until something appear in front you? If you really push hard your own projects, you are more than welcomed. If not... well, the society loves/needs re-active people, so you will love to work the crunch times in your future work in an office.
  • SAMPLES OF YOUR WORK: Only it's needed something that proves that you have a pro-active character. Do you have done any small project? Do you have participated positively in any project, or community? Have you learned things by your own? Again, it's not needed that you have done anything big or great, but just to know that you can be the locomotive of your own train.
  • SOLID GAMES: The games developed must be solid experiences. It's not asked to make extremely beautiful original games, the only thing is that crappy games, full of bugs, extremely non-user friendly... won't be allowed to belong to Star Trash Universe. Anyway, you would be able to release the game using another name and changing the graphics.

So, if you agree with the conditions you will be welcomed. I think there is a good chance to meet interesting people, to set new relationships, to take profit from others experience for not suffering so much during the developing process of a game idea. Maybe you will do something or maybe not, but as far as you behave correctly I'm sure that you will make some friends that could help you in the future. Remember, the real treasure are the friends, unless you are one of a million.
